Regulation for offshore produced water are becoming more and more stringent. New technologies are required for this challenging segment in order to meet future emission standards that are being set by international organizations, for example OSPAR for the Northeast Atlantic
Offshore produced water
MPPE Systems proven in removal of dissolved and dispersed:
- Aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX)
- Polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)
- NPD (naphtalenes, phenanthrenes, dibenzothiophenes)
- Aliphatics
- Hydrophobic components in oil field chemicals (e.g. inhibitors)
Robust and can withstand:
- Salt, methanol, glycols
- Corrosion inhibitors

- Demulsifiers

Environmental aspects:
- Separated hydrocarbons are recovered in practically pure form for use as a product
- No emissions to air and water and no sludge formation
- Small footprint
Evidence of success:
- More than 25 years of accumulated experience since 1994 in offshore produced water with Total, Shell, Statoil, Hydro (Ormen Lange)
- >95% reduction of environmental impact of produced water streams
